No school this week. What are you doing in the office?
Some of us dropped in to the office with our parents, as they brought immunization records or enrollment forms. We wondered what those people in the office were doing. They are answering the phone and greeting us with a smile, as usual, but they’re doing other things as well.
They’re organizing calendars and events for the school year ahead, . . .
. . .stuffing the teachers’ boxes with mail, articles, Summer Scapes news, blank maps and new little blank booklets. . .
. . . .going out to the Post Office and running school errands. . .
. . .showing people around, starting at the bulletin board with all of last year’s class pictures proudly displayed. . .
. . .unpacking and sorting new Neinhuis materials and taking them to the classrooms. . .
. . .adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. . .
. . .putting new toys on the small office shelf. . .
. . .sorting out all of the Quality Rated stuff that came along with our Three-Star rating. . .
. . .tracking enormous amounts of health and attendance forms. . .
. . .and, yes, filing.
After all this work, you now know why they are always so happy to see us return. Now, they can relax and watch us work!
