Do you know how much fun “Peepie!” is and why? Here’s a short story introducing Merry, who will be our new Afternoon Assistant in Toddler Community this fall.

 

Peepie! is still a favorite game in Toddler Community at Northwoods.  First you cover the face. . .

Then, you say, "Where's __________?"  In this case, it's Merry, our new Afternoon Assistant.

Then, you say, “Where’s __________?” In this case, it’s Merry, our new Afternoon Assistant. . .

 

Then, the person pops the scarf off her head and says, "Here I am!"

Young children are intrigued by the idea that objects and people still exist even when they cannot be seen.  They are acquiring “object permanence” from about four months, experts tell us, though they delight in this game as older toddlers, too.

We are looking forward to good days and good times with Merry.  She has recently earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Family Development and is, not only extremely knowledgeable, but a wonderfully good sport, too.  Welcome, Merry!
