This picture shows the end of the story about the Beginning of the Universe, The God Without Hands. It illustrates the cooling of Earth after a turbulent time of explosions and then, incessant rains.

At the conclusion of the story about the Beginning of the Universe, The God Without Hands, the storyteller illustrates the cooling of Earth after a turbulent time of explosions followed by incessant rains.

In Elementary, we find out about how things came to be.  Some things we were really wondering about. . .and some we never new existed!  At the beginning of the year, when we come back from Winter Holidays, and many times in-between, there are stories about people, and life before people, long, long ago.

The story of how we got mountains shows another facet of the formation of the earth and its crust.

At the end of the Timeline of Life, there is a small symbol that illustrates how long Human Beings have been on Earth and how long it took for Earth to have everything we need to survive.

When you come to observe, you will see us making many different things.  Some may make you may wonder, “What is that?” We may be illustrating a story of long ago with a diorama, with a model, or with some variations of a chart our teacher showed us during one of the stories.

A group measures a long piece of paper to make their own timeline.

All of our projects, experiments, reports and trips out into the area grow from details in the stories we want to know more about. Even our desire to work in the raised garden beds grew from a story.

This demonstration is about the fact that some particles are attracted to each other and some are not.

Of course, we also love to illustrate our work.

Do you like to hear a story?  We do. too!

Getting a closer look when friends are listening to a story. Sometimes we hear something new in a re-telling and are drawn in again.

There’s a story about How Everything Came to Be, sometimes called The Beginning of the Universe, or The God Without Hands. . .

We all like this story, especially the volcano explosion near the end.

. . .There’s a story about The Appearance of Life on Earth, complete with a long timeline with animals from all the different eras. . .

. . .There’s one about the First Humans. . .

. . .  And a great story about How We Got the Alphabet. . .

After the Story of the Alphabet, some people studied different alphabets from different languages.

.  .  . And a Story of Numbers.

Here we are looking at different ways of expressing quantities, from 1,2, or 3 stones, to Heiroglyphics, to Old European Numerals.

These are the big ones. But there are more.  There’s the Story of the Great River. . .

Depts. of Sensation Getting excited about making one's own chart Getting a few more details from the story Different Departments the River Waters

There is a place where a great river supports all of the departments. There is a Department of Information, with different smaller departments of sensations, a Department of Energy, and even a Department of Waste Removal. What a fascinating idea, we thought, but is it true? What do you think?

. . .a story about The Needs of Plants. . .

Here we learned, over the period of time we observed our experimental seeds, why the "Care of Plants" job is so important.

. . . and lot’s more.

The important thing about the stories is that they are true.  They are about how things came to be and about the Laws that Govern the Material Universe.  It’s nice to know that there are rules that govern every particle of matter and that, when we work hard together, we can find the answers to our questions about them.
