Today is Earth Day.  We have been celebrating all week, releasing ladybugs, planting and cleaning up our grounds.  Today, there was a little more of that ---and a lot of enjoyment of the new leaves, buds and flowers that surround us. How was your Earth Day?

Today is Earth Day. We have been celebrating all week, releasing ladybugs, planting and cleaning up our grounds. Today, there was a little more of that—and a lot of enjoyment of the new leaves, buds and flowers that surround us. Here are some photos from the Primary classes. How was your Earth Day?

First thing in the morning, we were greeted with a reminder that there would be a great planting party today.  Marigolds, vinca, salvia and other plants stood ready for the planting pots.

Early in the day, Millie and her children decorated Butterfly Hero badges for themselves in anticipation of their Monarch Release.

Outside at Lisa's the ladybugs were already at home in the azaleas, but there was a big bumble bee.  Inside, the children worked like bees, thinking of words that started with "m" or "i" and tracing Sandpaper Letters, or Sounds.

At Suzanne's, the variety of life on Earth was being celebrated with an enormous drawing that's been in progress for three days.  They also cleaned the porch, so they can take work outside again.

Then, there was planting. . .

. . .and watering! This will need to continue throughout the summer to keep our grounds beautiful and attractive to birds and butterflies!
