Rolling "Egyptian Style"
One afternoon in SummerScapes, while the younger children were attending to their Spanish lesson, the older ones were building with blocks and different construction toys. It was surprising to see a rather large block construction moving rapidly across the carpet and floor.
An Elementary Intern explained that they were moving the child’s house “Egyptian Style” and demonstrated by rolling it again, pointing out that he was removing one of four cylindrical rollers at a time and putting it under the structure again so that the house (or hotel) remained in motion.
It is an added benefit that the older Elementary children (nine to twelve year-olds) who Intern can share what they’ve learned when an opportunity arises—that they can see and grasp that opportunity.
